"That's why she and music sensation Lady Gaga are teaming up on a new campaign -- sponsored by MAC Cosmetics' nonprofit MAC AIDS Fund -- to remind women that the virus that causes AIDS remains a potent threat to women as well."
As well?! Who said AIDS awareness is/was only directed at males? I still do not understand why certain groups have to start campains and awareness about diseases which affect everybody? I'm pretty sure AIDS awareness and prevention has been a serious concern for all.
Also, if a man started something like this directed at males ONLY, it'd be looked at as sexist. Today, diseases only recieve attention from the media if that disease affects women as well (or only). Why do "male" diseases get so very little awareness? You constantly see this campain and that fund raiser for breast cancer. What if this disease was huge in the male gender? You certainly wouldn't be made aware of it like you are now. Very strange (and sexist). Disagree? Go scratch!
